Liget - The City Grove of Budapest

The City Park (Városliget) may not be known at first. But if you know that this is the part of the city where the Széchenyi Baths, Heroes' Square and the spectacular ice rink are located, you will know what an important role the "Liget", as it is abbreviated, plays in Budapest's local recreation. It was one of the first public parks in the world and serves as a living nucleus that allows residents to feel close to nature even in the heart of the city, not to mention the numerous fun-filled outings for all ages. As soon as the sun rises, Budapest residents head to the park for a walk, to play with their dogs, to enjoy the sunshine, or simply to linger with family and friends over a cold drink and a pretzel for the kids.
