Széchenyi Castle in Nagycenk

Széchenyi Castle in Nagycenk

Only 13 kilometers from Sopron, in Nagycenk, is the early classicist Széchenyi Castle. The castle was the home of the greatest Hungarian: István Széchenyi and for generations of his family. After the reconstruction of the castle in 1973, the Memorial Museum and Family Mausoleum was opened, which presents the history of the family and the life of István Széchenyi. In the garden there is one of the most beautiful linden avenues in Europe, it is 2.6 km long and was planted in 1754 by order of Antal Széchenyi and his wife.

After visiting the castle, you can continue your time travel with the nearby Széchenyi Museum Railway in turn-of-the-century style.
