Niedernburg Monastery with tomb of Blessed Gisela Passau
Niedernburg Monastery with tomb of Blessed Gisela Passau
In the middle of Passau's old town lies the Niedernburg Monastery, once a Benedictine abbey, later home to the English Misses. The Church of the Holy Cross is a popular pilgrimage destination among Hungarian guests, as the tomb of Blessed Gisela is located here: the Hungarian queen entered the monastery after the death of her husband Stephen of Hungary and was elected abbess.
