Romans along the Danube
In the footsteps of the Romans on the Danube
The Holy Roman Empire is considered a world empire of unique proportions. The Romans could hardly be stopped in their conquests: Neither climatic nor geographical adversities could stop them. They crossed the Alps, penetrated to the border of today's Scotland, controlled the Mediterranean and built magnificent buildings that we can still admire today. And yet they were content with the Danube as the northern border of their world empire and thus shaped today's cultural landscape.
